Introducing Lancome CC Cushion Primers!

I wanted to share this post with you all today, as I was kindly gifted 2 of the new Colour Correcting Cushions by Lancome. To my knowledge there’s nothing quite like this on the market to date and with Lancome being number one in the world for Cushion Make-up how could I not share with you…

Where to Purchase: http://www.lancome.co.uk

Price: £29

Amount of Shades Available: 4 Shades Available (I’ve got the Peach & Green)

Is it refillable? No

What does CC mean? ‘Colour Correcting’

But what is Colour Correcting?
Colour Correcting is a simple professional layering technique used by many make-up artists, to instantly improve the appearance of the skin, with the use of make-up – an advanced hugely noticeable quick fix.

The theory of the colour correcting comes from art and the artists colour wheel, which is used to create all the colours we have around us today.

Below is a very basic Colour Wheel:

Image result for colour wheel simple

When Colour Correcting colours opposite each other on the wheel, always work together, as you want to do the opposite of the problem and help.

Green + Red
Blue + Orange
Purple + Yellow

Applying this theory and knowledge to make-up:
Any redness/ rocacia to the skin, we will use the GREEN CC Primer ONLY IN THE RED AREAS to help lift the redness.

To help lift and neutralise dark circles before concealer is applied we will apply the PINKY PEACH CC Primer to the dark areas only.

To help with any sallowness to the skin we will use the PURPLE CC Primer to just these areas to help neutralise, in my past experience Purple Colour Corrector’s work great with Asian skin tones.

Lastly our YELLOW CC Primer is a universal corrector helped to use mild redness, improve dullness and fatigue to the skin.

Product Description from Lancome:
A color-correcting primer in a cushion compact that instantly provides weightless color correction of any skin coloration concern and hydration for a bright, flawless complexion. Miracle CC Cushion – Color Correcting Primer features a perfectly pigmented formula that allows for buildable coverage to spot correct imperfections or all over correction.
Formulated with pine extract to correct uneven skin tone and glycerin for hydration and glow, the CC Cushions leave a fresh, cooling sensation on skin. Layer it under your foundation for a non-cakey, transfer-free, skin-perfecting result.

What makes Lancome different from other brand correctors?
From using other brands correctors, our CC Primers from Lancome are like no other correctors on the market, due to the lightweight texture, cooling sensation and the fresh ‘slippy’ feeling the cushion format provides.
The correctors aren’t the brightest corrector’s on the market and that’s absolutley fine, not every CC on the market needs to have intense colour pay off, as it not for everyone. These Lancome CC primers, are perfect for those of you wanting to try the colour correcting technique but not the most confident in doing so. Fool proof, is the best way to sum these beauties up, you really can’t go wrong, perfect for the lively millenials on the go, to the leisurely generous elite!

Application & Techniques:
Apply with the ‘Less is definitely more’ approach. I got used to the cushion at first by testing on the back of the hand.
If you want a stronger coverage in an area, you’re best applying with a clean finger in a patting ‘layering’ motion rather than a circular rubbing motion.
I found using the pinky peach corrector under my eyes, I tended to pat the product on and then using wiping motions to feather out the edges to the product disappeared into the skin, so not too much would be in the way for foundation.
Around my nose I found folding the cushion in half worked better to get the product where I wanted.

Lancome’s PERFECT Double Cleansing Routine!

Cleansing: ‘Making the skin, thoroughly clean’.

IMG_2189 (2)

No matter how lazy you are with your skincare and make-up routine there’s no avoiding cleansing your skin.
It’s such an important part of taking care of your largest body organ, it can effect the way you look and feel within yourself.

Today I want to share with you 2 brand new products launched by my fave brand Lancome and how they perfectly fit in to my skincare routine featuring the new hype of the Double Cleanse. Introducing Bifacil Visage & Miel – en – Mousse…

IMG_2194 (2)

Step 1. Bifacil
Wiping the days stress’ away with the Bifacil Eye and Lip Remover, is how I like to start my cleansing routine, there’s no better feeling really… If you haven’t tried this eye makeup remover you’re missing out, its a make-up artist favourite for a reason! I adore the cooling sensation this leaves my skin feeling, especially for around my eyes, usually my eyes are feeling very irritated and warm towards the end of the day, so giving my eyes a quick wipe over with this is a real soothing treat!

Step 2. Bifacil Visage
Meet Step 1’s Bifacil’s baby sister, Bifacil Visage. Oh my. What a Dream.
I’ve been so tempted in the past to use Bifacil all over my face to get my base make-up off, because its just so cooling and effortlessly removes stubborn waterproof make-up. However I’ve refrained, its not for the face after all. But Bifacil Visage is *Smug Face*. This is basically a micellar water mixed with oil, so it will easily break down base make-up and the micellar water will lift the dirt from the skin, in such a genlte way… a powerful dirt magnet in a beautiful bottle!
Shake, Pour onto a cotton pad and Wipe!

Step 3. Double Cleansing with Meil- en- Mousse
I mean at this point if you dont wear a lot of make-up you can leave it here and move on to step 4. But because we’re beauty addicts and want the best for our skin we double cleanse. Thats right we do a double.
This time I use the Meil-en- Mousse, a honey based textured rinse off cleanser, which you apply onto a DRY skin.
I like to use around 3/4 pumps of this honey magic. Honey has anti-bacterial properties so will gently lift any remaining dirt and treat any impurities/ break outs. Be warned its a very gloopy/ stringy texture and that’s normal, it is honey based after all – Winnie the Pooh was never a clean eater…
Once I’ve applied it to my skin I like to rinse of using a hot damp face cloth and wipe away the cleanser. A this point the bathroom smells amazing! As well as my face, feeling so soft and smooth.

IMG_2207 (2)

Step 4. Tone
Tonique Douceur is the one for me. I must have gone through about 15 400ml sized bottles of this throughout the years, it truely is my favourite Toner!
It leaves the skin feeling so soft, hydrated and gives your skin such a  refreshing wake-up boost, due to its fresh scent, non greasy fast absorbing texture.

The Highlighters You NEED.

Now with the Summer months approaching here! I thought you may want to see my favourite highlighting products to help give you that beautiful radiant sheen in the summer months.
I’m not sure about you but I’m a sucker for all things glowy, ‘sheeny’ and radiant looking. I love how they instantly help to make me look I’ve had 12 hours of sleep, I have the worlds best skin and to cheat that I eat my 5 portions of fruit and veg a day. Lolz.

Who doesn’t love a good highlight?

Best Highlighting Product for a Skincare Lover:
Advanced Genifique Youth Activating Concerntrate

I’m kicking off with more of a skincare care treatment product. This is a serum so you need to use it everyday, the more you use it the more it will benefit your skin. It’s more of a long term permanent investment more than a cheaper quick fix ‘fake it’ product, hence the price tag at £59. BUT it’s so worth it.

Meet Lancome’s Advanced Genifique.

IMG_1722 (2)

I’ve been a HUGE fan of this product for about nearly 4 years now and used it almost every day since.
I apply this product every morning after I have applied my toner before my moisturiser. I’ve noticed it has really helped to improve the bright appearance of my skin, by making it looking brighter, fresher, more even toned and clearer. It also makes my skin smoother and softer. It works amazingly on a morning to give that fresh bright glow, without leaving the skin feeling greasy, oily or sticky. Its a clear formula which sinks into the skin straight away not leaving any residue or film. The perfect serum in my opinion!

It also works AMAZINGLY mixing it into a liquid foundation which already gives a nice healthy glow, to double the impact – making the skin look flawless!
Available to purchase here at £59 – £94, depending on preferred size.

Best Highlight for Dark Skin:
MAC Lustre Drops

IMG_1724 (2)

If you were wanting more of a an instant result and have more of an olive to dark skin. If you have a paler skin, I wouldn’t recommend so much, as the gold is incredible gold and ‘orange toned’. The MAC Liquid Lustre Drops in ‘Gold’ are stunning. You only get a small amount of product (18ml) but these are incredibly pigmented. Again you can use these on top of foundation for the high point of the face or mix it into foundation. I prefer to apply onto of the foundation as I feel its more noticeable and using a duo fibre brush I feel works well to gently buff the product into the skin without breaking down the base product, as they are very runny.
Available to purchase here at £18.

IMG_1733 (2).JPG

Winning Highlight for Multi-Purpose use:
MAC Strobe

IMG_1723 (2)

Another brilliant product by MAC which I cant go on a job without is MAC Strobe Liquid Lotion – original shade.

This stuff is amazing! So multi purpose!
You can either use it as a moisturiser base, before foundation, you can mix it with your foundation to lighten it a tiny bit and add a lovely radiance or you can just apply to the high point of the face. Again like the previous MAC product I think it works best to buff it into the skin lightly with a duo fibre blending brush. You can use your fingers with this product but I’ve find it just gets absolutely everywhere and feels like such a waste.
This product has lasted me 3 years – such an investment as a small amount goes along way as its so pearlised. Now MAC have launched some more shades to there collection to get the perfect colour glow you would like ranging from the original (pink) to red, gold, silver, you really should go into mac and swatch. I love the red toned one – which is surprising as the same does sound scarily awful. Its personal preference but I really recommend checking the strobe cream out if you’re wanting a higher end quick fix highlighter that multi purpose!
– Note: Mines the Lotion, I’m not sure if this is still available to purchase, but the lotion is just a tiny bit thinner than the cream, if you’re confused by the name.
Available here at £25.

IMG_1736 (2)

IMG_1737 (2).JPG

Best Photographic Highlight:
Illamasqua Gleam

IMG_1717 (2)

Another kit favourite of mine is the Illamasqua Cream Gleam Highlighters in ‘Aurora’ and they do a darker shade in ‘Supernatural’ which I also have in my kit, which is more of a coppery bronzed shade rather than a yellow toned gold in comparison to the MAC Lustre Drops.
Be aware though that you do need to use these sparingly, as they can go a little bit ‘patchy and bitty’ if you use too much on the skin. But they photograph is seamless, so stunning, a really instagram pop of highlight, so soft, satiny but bright and reflective.
I find they only work by patting onto of base product, I don’t feel like they come through if you were to apply before a base product. In my time of using them also I’ve found they work best being warmed on the back of the hand before being patted onto the skin using my ring finger. I wouldn’t recommend a ‘rubbing’ circular motion to work this into the skin, as with the texture its quite thick to needs to be gently manipulated into the skin. If you go into store I suggest swatching this first before buying, so you can feel the texture if it would work for yourself. To me the texture isn’t completely desireable, but I love it because the results it gives.
Available here at £25.

Top Budget Highlight under £5:
MUA ‘Undress Your Skin’ Powder Highlight

I am obsessed with these, if you dont own at least one, where have you been. You need to go purchase one and thank me later. You can thank me for introducing you to a super duper cheap life changing powder which will give you compliments to the high heavens every time you wear it.
I own the Iridescent Gold, Pink Shimmer & Peach Shimmer. Hands down all are flawless and beautiful for the price, they give intense colour pay off and such a beautiful sheen on the skin. Apply so easy and are so buildable, they dont apply patchy nor do they looks too cheap or too sparkly with huge chunks of glitter.
My first one was the pink shimmer, and I get SO MANY compliments I cant even tell you when I wear this. I wore this to work once, and after 45 minutes the girl went on her break to go and buy it as  she couldn’t stop staring at the glow haha! Its also been referred to as a ‘unicorn’ highlight too, its incredible. You will love.

Top 5 Blushers for Summer

FullSizeRender (6)

With the weather getting warmer well actually more brighter let say, I thought I would share with you my top 5 blushers I think are worth checking out this summer!

First up, meet the Lancome Blush Subtil in shade ‘030 Eclat de Corail’ available to purchase here and is priced at £29.50.

IMG_1577 (2)

IMG_1602

IMG_1606 (2)

This Lancome blush has become the blusher I reached for recently on a day to day basis. It works so well with all makeup looks and gives a beautiful radiance to the skin as well, but not glittery and not ‘in your face’ very subtil and pretty.
This blush works well on the majority of skin tones, it looks incredible if you have a beautiful olive skin too. However if your skin is darker than medium/olive I would recommend you try this blusher on in store, before buying just to make sure its definitely one for you.

Second up, is MAC Sheertone Blush in ‘Springsheen’ Which is available here and is priced at £19.50.IMG_1582 (2)

IMG_1600

IMG_1601 (2)

I remember purchasing this blush as I didn’t have a peachy shimmery one in my kit and I needed one for a an upcoming shoot I had. This blush gives an incredibly natural finish, its not the most noticeable on the skin, its very sheer hence the ‘Sheertone formula’ its definitely better for a pale/ porcelain skin especially red heads – works an absolute dream!

Next is Lancome again but this time a different texture with the Cushion Blush Subtil, this is in the Shade 024 ‘Sparkling Framboise’, available here and is priced at £29.50.

IMG_1592 (2)

IMG_1614 (2)

IMG_1615 (2)

I adore this formula, I do believe these cushion formulas are easier to blend into the skin and are less likely to go patchy, due to the fresh creamy light formula. These are brilliant for a dry skin, who like to avoid powder products. These last all day on the skin and can also be used on the lips too! – Perfect on the go Blush, makes a 2-in-1!

Sticking with Lancome again is Blush Subtil in shade 011 ‘Brun Roche’ this is also priced at £29.50 and available here.

IMG_1596 (2)

IMG_1607

IMG_1609 (2)

I LOVE this blusher, its very well loved and I can almost use it as a Bronzer as I’m so pale haha! Its a great nude blush, if you want to define your cheeks and add a little bit of colour to the cheeks but dont want to introduce a new brighter colour. Gorg. Pale gals, you need this in your life.

Finally is the Illamasqua Cream Blusher in ‘Promise’ which is available here priced at £23.

IMG_1599 (2)

IMG_1611

IMG_1612 (2)

This is such a candy pink blusher, perfect for ALL skintypes, even the darkest of skins. Its beautiful and easy to blend again as its cream. It’s a little bit of a thicker formula opposed to the Lancome Cushion so this definitely needs to be applied before any powder is introduced onto the skin – otherwise it wont sit right and will look awful ‘bitty’ and will sit on top of the skin rather than blend in with the skin.

Please let me know your Top 5 Blushers for summer this year – I’d love to know!

Overnight Break at The Titanic Spa

IMG_1417 (2)IMG_1408 (2)IMG_1409 (3)IMG_1386 (2)IMG_1391 (2)IMG_1410 (2)IMG_1404 (2)IMG_1407 (2)IMG_1419 (2)IMG_1412 (2)

IMG_1428 (2).JPG

On Sunday I was so lucky to spend the night at the Titanic Spa in Huddersfield with my Boyfriend Dan.

The overnight stop over was a present and all paid for by Dan, for my 21st Birthday last year. Although we attended nearly a year later (lol) it was definitely worth the wait!!!

I’d heard about Titanic Spa, through a lot of my friends going regularly and loving it and never once hearing the word ‘Titanic Spa’ with a negative comment left me eager to go.

The overnight stop over consisted of:

  • Complimentary Use of Robes, Towels and Slippers
  • Overnight Accommodation & Continental Breakfast
  • Club Titanic & Swimming Pool & Hydrozone
  • Titanic Spa Heat & Ice Experience
  • Outdoor Hot Tub
  • Access to Bar 1911
  • 1 Course Light Lunch
  • 2 Course Evening Meal

Along with a an Elemis ‘Skin Specific Facial’ or a Decleor ‘Illuminating Facial’ lasting 55 minutes.

We opted for the Elemis Skin Specific Facial and both of us came out with a huge smile on our face as to how amazing and nice the facial was. The facials roughly cost around £50-70, which from an outsiders point of view is expensive however it is 100% worth the money. The treatment rooms are beautiful and cosy, so clean and the staff are very friendly and deliver a high quality service. Tia was the lovely girl who did my treatment and I could tell she was expertly trained and very confident in carrying out the treatment.

W both loved the Heat & Ice Experience, there is definitely going to be a room in there which you will love! They all range in different temperatures, and target specific areas in working to relax your body and mind.
We were a little bit clueless at first, but descriptions of each of the rooms are clearly displayed. It also includes the correct preparation before entering the room, recommended time to be spent in the room and advice to avoid the room if you suffer with listed health conditions/ pregnancy.

The photos above are all taken from the apartment, as I was unable to use my phone going around the spa – note there’s no signal – PERFECT for anyone who needs to switch of from social media and the outside world!
The apartment was beautiful, I mean I could easily move in tomorrow! It had everything and more needed in the apartment from butter to hairdryers, to washing up liquid to cutlery. You really had everything on hand.

We tried all the facilities we were able to use, including the Swimming Pool, which was such a lovely size again so well looked after and clean. It wasn’t deep, so even for people who aren’t confident in the water they can still join in.
We also tried out the gym too, even though it was short lived!

Also its worth noting there’s lots of free parking and its surprisingly easy to get to, as long as you have a Sat Nav, be prepared for lots of fields, narrow roads and steep hills! – Definitely not a journey I’d want to try in the snow…

Next time we both said we want to get another treatment and try the mud chamber, but we loved every minute and can not fault anything about the experience.

Have you been to Titanic Spa before? – What treatment did you have? Or can you recommend any other amazing Spa’s?

One2One with Lyndsey Harrison!

Hello!

So this post is following on from my most recent post which can be found here!

If you’ve not read that post to give you a little round up I’ve been following Lyndsey Harrison’s work since studying at Leeds City College, studying my BTEC Diploma in Performing Arts. Roughly that must be about 6 years ago now (2011) which is mind blowing.
I first discovered Lyndsey’s work after she was mentioned by Sam Chapman (Pixiwoo) in a Youtube Video. When researching Lyndsey’s work, encouraged by Sam, I then discovered she was working Behind The Scenes of TOWIE, glamming up the girls for their on screen appearances. Being a lover of the glam make-up and TOWIE, it was a non brainer that I became a follower of Lyndsey’s work and spoke to her a few times over the years.
Lyndsey now works daily with Celebrities such as Charlotte Crosby, Denise Van Outen, Lydia Bright, Sam and Billie Faiers to name a few!

Finally last Saturday I was able to meet Lyndsey in person, as my parents had booked a One to One lesson with her as part of my Christmas Present, it was just down to me to organise it all! So I thought I would share with you a little review/ insight of the day, without giving too much away!

After contacting Lyndsey over email and Lyndsey offering me a selection of varied dates, I opted for a Saturday and Lyndsey’s timing of 1-3pm suited my travelling needs perfectly. As I would be travelling from Leeds – Marlow.
Sorting out payment prior with Lyndsey was so efficient and easy. A bonus was the button on the email which came with the invoice which had the option to ‘send a notification’ after payment had been done, which was super handy!

On Saturday Morning I was greeted by a text from Lyndsey, whilst on my way down and took the opportunity to tell her I would be arriving much earlier than 1pm, due to the Sat Nav taking us a different route to which we had originally planned. Lyndsey offered to start the One2One half an hour earlier, putting me first, which I was so grateful for! To pass the time on Lyndsey suggested I venture down to the High Street, which was an amazing high street – you don’t get these types of highstreet’s up north! I’m talking about your Space NK, Jack Wills, WHSmiths, Zizzi’s plus loads more on a HIGH STREET. Everything you could ever need. After grabbing some Fish and Chips and wandering back to the car it was time to head to the One to One… Eeek!

Lyndsey’s studio is so easy to find with a private car park, it’s so beautiful, so clean and so organised, every girl’s dream. Her studio is decorated with magazine cuttings and beautiful images of her celebrity clients and friends, which made a great inspiring work environment to be in!

Lyndsey made me feel so comfortable, having to do make-up in front of a celebrity make-up artist can be a daunting experience, but don’t let this put you off, Lyndsey’s persona is very calming and laid back which helps to put you at ease and really gets the best out of you. Lyndsey really listened to what I wanted to gain and tailored the lesson to suit, giving industry advice and tips throughout. The 2 hours passed by so quickly!
We decided on a glamorous type make-up which Lyndsey regularly creates on her celeb clients. Lyndsey explained how this would be beneficial for me to learn as I could recreate on clients as well on photo shoots and would be beneficial for me and in my portfolio. In which I agree.
Lyndsey did one half of my face and I mirrored on the other side, after each step. Ideally it would have been great and much easier to have a model to use, however coming down from Leeds and choosing a Saturday Afternoon didn’t leave me much choice!
Putting this aside I still got as much out of it as I thought I would. Using products from my own kit along with my own brushes, was so handy.
I have also come away with knowledge of new products and up to date industry techniques to add to my kit in future.
The freedom and encouragement to take photos throughout is a bonus and a great way to remember the day too!
If you are thinking about booking in with Lyndsey, I would highly recommend even with a First Class Honours Degree in Media Makeup with Special Effects, I still came away learning new techniques with confidence. It really is worth the money!

Origins: Out of Trouble Face Mask

THE PRODUCT: Origins Out of Trouble Face Mask

img_0681-2

Available at: http://www.origins.co.uk, Debenhams, Boots, John Lewis

Price: £24

Amount of Product: 100ml

Skin Type: Oily/ Combination/ Acne Prone

What they say:
‘When skin is too-slic or when more pressing problems start to pop up, Origins is here to keep skin Out Of Trouble. Super-absorbent Zinc Oxide and Sulfur plus calming Camphor rapidly soak up oily-shine, slough off dead cells and sweep away debris. Together they steer skin clear of slippery situations, refine rough texture and pull the plug on troublemakers to help prevent potential outbursts.’

Why I like it:

How & Why I like to use this:
I love to use this once or twice a week, I feel it really calms my skin and prevents any breakouts which I think may be round the corner from popping out. I find myself using this whilst I have a bath as this mask only needs to be on for 10 minutes, so its quite a quick easy mask to fit into my routine whilst in the bath.
Its a perfect product which can just be used in small areas instead of a full face mask and I have been told by Amber my friend who works for Origins it can be used as an over night treatment on any blemishes.
I can whole heartedly say the main reason I continuously repurchase this product time again and again is because I feel it makes me skin a lot clearer, brighter and most importantly less aggravated. It really soothes and takes the redness out of my skin and I can always guarantee this product to give me an extra trust worthy boost to pick my skin up.
The size of the mask is a really good size, it lasts ages but not long enough to feel like the product may have gone off or to get bored of the product.
I really like the packaging, its really clean and easy to use and not messy in the slightest, compared to masks I have used before which have come in tubs.
I quite like the smell of this product, its very minty however if you’re not keen on mint scents I suggest you go into store and ask to smell the tester before purchasing. I wouldn’t say the smell is enough to stop you from purchasing as it’s not overwhelming and considering this product is only on for your skin around 10 minutes, it’s not going to be on your skin all day like a day cream. I would suggest hanging on in there with the smell and reep up the benefits the product has to offer.
I wouldn’t say this is the most affordable, but its definitely worth every penny. I do believe you get what you pay for with skincare. I would try and buy this product when stores have promotions on and to get it a little bit cheaper, as after all its a skin TREATment to me, so not essential but compliments my skincare regime very well.
