Media Make-up

Britain’s Next Top Model!

Hey Lovelies!

So I am trying to get back to posting on my blog more regularly from now on, as I’ve been quite absent from here for a while and been actually quite busy… which leads me nicely on to this post?

Where have you been? What have you been doing!?

So I am super late in sharing this with you, but I thought better late than never, right?
Well I pleased to inform you I’ve been working on the latest series of BRITAIN’S NEXT TOP MODEL, doing the make-up as part of the make-up team, under the Head Make-up Artist Lee Pycroft.

I’m so incredibly late in sharing this with you, as I have been working on more exciting things which I can reveal at a later date, so make sure you’re following me and dont miss out! I’m so late in fact that this recent TV Series has now finished… I know I am the worst, but I’m sure you can watch it up on catch up and you can be filled in with everything on the BNTM website here.

It was an absolutely incredible experience working under Lee, as I had never done any true assisting work on this level. Plus this was my first experience learning about how the TV industry works, so was a real eye opener for me. The things I learnt is definitely the only types of things you only learn on the job, no one can teach you this type of thing within the classroom walls.

The show was filmed all over different locations of London and I was able to work with some incredible brands including, Cosmopolitan Magazine, Patisserie de Bain, Fiji Water & Sleek Make-up!
I also met some incredible people you may recognise the names of Abbey Clancy, Paul Sculfor, Nicky Johnston, Hilary Alexander and Toby Huntington- Whiteley.
The crew of Thumbs Up Production, were so lovely and Series Producer David, really made you feel part of the team, which was great!

I’m going to leave some pictures of my time working on Britain’s Next Top Model, series 11, hope you like!

Hope you’ve enjoyed my little super late post …*Face Palm*

House of Glamdolls: Glambase Wheel 2

THE FIND: House of Glamdolls, Glambase Wheel 2

img_0134

Where: I purchased this at The Glamdolls Studio in London. However you can pick it up here:
http://www.houseofglamdolls.com/shop/
http://www.cocktailcosmetics.co.uk/brand/house-of-glamdolls
https://www.love-makeup.co.uk/house-glamdolls-m-123.html

The Price: £25

What they say:
‘Created by David Horne, The Glambase 2 Wheel is a mixing revolution for complexion enhancement.  The wheel contains 6 shades that have been blended for easy complexion perfection every time.’

What shades are included?
The GlamBase Wheel 2 is presented in a windowed compact. 35g.
– Radiate, this is a copper iridescent cream highlighter and is found in the centre of the wheel
– Caramel, this cream is designed to lift and illuminate features
– Toffee, designed to be used on the lid to even out the colour, also can be used to highlight and sharpen features
– Chestnut, to shape and sculpt features
– Truffle, to conceal pigmentation and enhance your complexion
– Shadow, a dark olive colour used for concealer and contour

img_0136

Why I like it:: I always have this in my kit, its a staple product for me now, just like the Glambase Wheel 1. I believe there is nothing on the market quite like this, especially for such dark skin tones. I have no worries now if  I’m given a darker skin model on a shoot as I feel I now have all areas covered with this compact wheel. It helps to concealer, lift, perfect, highlight, and could also be used a base alternative to a typical foundation.
If you’re a make-up artist you definitely need this in your kit, I can guarantee there is nothing else quite like this all in one compact wheel. its very simple quick and easy to use. If you have a darker skin and really struggle to find the perfect shade to contour and highlight with I cant stress this product enough. The pigmentation of the creams are extremely pigmented, so a little bit goes a huge way.
Its very  compact, light and you get so much product in there. The packaging is plastic, making it easy to clean and surprisingly very sturdy and I have not yet experienced any cracks or damage carrying the wheel between shoots. Once all the colours have run out of the wheel I also plan on keeping the wheel and filling it with my lipsticks, so even then the wheel will not be going to waste. Its very reasonably priced also. For 6 colours in the wheel you are roughly paying just over £4 for each colour. Bargain.

img_0133

How I like to use this: I love to use a variety of different brushes with this product. I love to use my MAC 286 brush, which is a fluffy tapered duo fibre brush, as it blends perfectly seamless. I also like to use the Zoeva concealer buffer brush to mark out the contour and blending in with my finger. I love to use my fingers for the highlight shade as I feel I can judge the amount I am using better than applying with a brush.

The Downfalls: It maybe hard to believe but I cant think of a negative for this product at all, just like the Glambase Wheel 1! If you have one let me know, I’m intrigued to find one person  who doesn’t like this product yet…

Overall Verdict: The greatest find you will ever purchase for darker tones… 100% My security blanket for darker skin tones!

My Shade: 010 – Beige Albâtre

img_0451

Packaging: The packaging of the product I love its very luxurious looking with the Black case and Gold compact lid. Its very much a foundation aimed for a night time I believe in the  Lancôme foundation range, so the colours work well. These case also is very easy to wipe clean and pretty light which is a big bonus. I adore how you can refill this foundation for just £19.50 its definitely a feature I believe which will sway people into repurchasing, as it’s a pretty affordable foundation for such a luxury brand with full coverage.

Initial Thoughts:

  • Definitely quick to use
  • Easy to use – using the sponge applicator was easier than initially thought to use, as I was able to fold the sponge in half to get in hard to reach places such as around the nose. I usually use a foundation brush but this was a nice change.
  • Sponge application allowed even finish
  • Feels very light, I don’t feel like I am using a lot of foundation
  • Finish is quite velvety matte – not completely matte or dewy
  • Colour match was quite good for my pale skin
  • Easily covered up my redness

Full Face:

Here I have the Teint Idole Cushion Foundation with the Cushion Subtil Blush in 024 on my cheeks and lips.

Overall verdict, after a week of using:

  • Best used when moisturiser has sunk in a little bit rather than straight away, as the sponge will absorb moisturiser
  • Extremely flawless
  • Doesn’t feel heavy or drying in the slightest
  • Stayed in place all day, didn’t feel the need to apply any more of the compact.
  • I did however feel incredibly oily/shiny after having the foundation on for over 13 hours, but the coverage remained intact which I was very impressed with.
  • So quick and easy to apply
  • Love how compact it is, so easy to carry around
  • Not sure how long the product will last before refilling, as do feel like I’m using more product than I would like to be honest.

Have you tried this particular full coverage cushion foundation? What’s your thoughts?

Lancome Cushion Blush

THE GIFT: Lancôme Cushion Blush –  024 Sparkling Framboise

img_0226

Available to purchase: www.lancome.co.uk, Debenhams, Boots, House of Fraser, Harvey Nichols, Selfridges, Harrods

Price: £28

What they say:
‘Vibrancy and freshness of a liquid blush in a portable cushion. This new blusher cushion instantly refreshes by bringing vibrant colour to your cheeks. Choose the intensity you want and apply with the mini puff applicator. Lancôme Blush has never been so fun!’

Colours Available:
There are six shades available, ranging from a natural ‘flush’ to a bright ‘pop’ of colour.
– 02, Rose Limonade
-022, Rose Givree
-024, Sparkling Framboise
– 025, Sorbet Grinadine
-031, Splash Orange
– 032, Splash Corail

Whats included?
– 7g of blush
– Sponge applicator

Tips & Tricks:
Application
The blush can also be applied using a stippling brush or finger tips. When using the sponge applicator for the first time I recommend tapping the sponge onto the back of your hand first to get any excess product off before applying directly to the cheek. If you need anymore blush you can use the remaining product off the back of your hand.

Multi-purpose
The blushers can actually be used on the lips also, and give a really nice pop of colour and work well when work on the cheeks and lips. They dont have the best staying power but brilliant to use if on the go and need to freshen up your appearance.

Making your Cushion last longer
A little tip for making your blusher last longer, is to actually use a pair of tweezers to flip the cushion sponge over in the compact. Usually due to having to press into the sponge a lot of the product can end up sitting right at the bottom of the sponge. So if you flip it over, it should be like brand new again!

Lancome: L’absolu Lipstick 368 Swatch

Hello Girls!

A few weeks ago, I was kindly gifted a new lipstick from Lancôme and wanted to share it with you. The new lipstick is from the NEW L’absolu Range Lancôme have recently launched.

THE GIFT: Lancôme L’absolu Lipstick 368 –  Rose Lancôme

Available to purchase: www.lancome.co.uk, Debenhams, Boots, House of Fraser, Harvey Nichols, Selfridges, Harrods

Price: £25.50

What they say:
‘Let your lips speak out who you really are with L’Absolu Rouge. Our cult lipstick reinvents itself, more precious and colorful than ever. From our timeless iconic colors to new vibrant shades, our range has it all: perfect nudes, intense reds, luminous pinks… an incredibly widespread palette of colors and finishes to explore and adopt. Which one will you choose?’

Colours Available:
38 shades are available in the NEW L’absolu Range.
Classic popular shades such as 06, 047, 250, 354 to name a few have remained, die hard Lancôme lipstick lovers will be pleased to know!

The new shades are now available in 3 finishes:
– Sheer…a buildable sheer colour with a subtle shiny finish
– Cream… a creamy luminous satin finish
– Matte… a comfortable creamy matte finish

The Finish:
368, is part of the cream finish family

The Packaging:
The packaging on the lipstick is beautiful, Lancôme have really upped their game with this new range. They have still kept the black coloured packaging however the magnetic lid has now gone and been replaced by a push button.
To open you push the golden rose lid in which will release the lipstick, which you can then pull out and wind up. This tightly compacted lid, may initially seem unnecessary, however I think its an essential part. It will make sure the lid wont come off in your bag avoiding lipstick everywhere and will preserve your lipstick to make sure it wont dry out.

How I like to use this:
I personally cant bare to use the cloth provided to remove my full face of make-up from the day initially, as I don’t want to turn the pure white cloth into a foundation stained mess (lol).
1. I start by wetting my face using warm water using my hands.
2. I then take a small amount of cleanser and rub it between my fingers and use small circular motions to apply to the skin.
3. I remove this pre cleanse using my regular face cloth and rinse.
4. I then repeat step 2 to cleanse my skin and then remove using the Emma Hardie cloth provided, to remove any last traces.
5. Pat dry, tone & moisturise.

If I decide to take my makeup off whilst watching TV and be lazy, I use a Micellaire water to remove the make-up and then use the Emma Hardie Cleanser and Cloth provided afterwards to really cleanse my skin and give it a nice pamper before bed.

img_0062

Why I like it:
Get a generous amount for a ‘starter kit’
– Small amount goes a long way
– Gentle on the skin and eye area, doesn’t sting
– Melts all make-up off instantly
– Quick and easy to use
– The texture when rubbed into the skin, really feels luxurious
– Leaves my skin feeling, soft, smoother and moisturised

The Downfalls:
– Not the best for travelling
– I’m personally not a fan of the scent of the product, as it is quite strong and smells quite ‘zesty’ and ‘floral’… that’s the best way I can describe it!
– It is quite pricey, if used regularly
– I do feel this is best suited for a drier maturer skin, due to how the balm has left my skin feeling after.

img_0057

Overall Verdict:
I do believe this product is best suited for someone who has a normal to dry skin, purely because of the oils in the products. I wouldn’t recommend this for someone who has an incredibly oily skin or skin which is very sensitive to heavily fragranced products.
I do believe this is the perfect cleanser for these upcoming winter months, as its a very rich luxurious product, so will leave the driest of skins beautifully soft and hydrated in the harsh cold and windy months.
This 50ml product will last you roughly about 2-3 months on everyday use, as a small amount goes a long way which is great. However I have used other cleansing products which are slightly cheaper which have lasted double the amount longer, due to getting more product (100ml+).
This set is perfect for someone like myself who is wanting to try this cleanser before handing over £38 for 100g of product or £59 for 200g of product.
The cloth is of lovely quality and is definitely a requirement when using this product as it really helps to melt and remove any traces of remaining oil on the skin, in a gentle non abrasive way, brilliant for daily use.

Let me know if you would like to hear about the cream provided?

Spotlight Moment: As seen featured in The Sunday Times Style

Why I like it:: I always have this in my kit, its a staple product for me now. Purely because its such an all rounder product. It helps to concealer, lift, perfect, highlight, and could also be used a base alternative to a typical foundation.
I think its a MUST HAVE for all make-up artists and student make-up artists. I’m sure those of you who love a good contour and have pale to medium skin this would be a perfect addition to your make-up bags.
Its so compact, light and you get so much product in there.
